I usually prepare my salad in what all of my friends and I refer to as our “salad dish.” It’s really a 4 cup Pyrex dish that we use for any sort of salad potato, macaroni, cornbread, jello, you name it. It takes a basic cornbread recipe to a whole new level, adding veggies, pickles, bacon, and a homemade dressing. The first time I tried this recipe, at a church dinner, naturally, I was hooked. One of my favorite ways to prepare cornbread is in this Cornbread Salad Recipe. Sadly, that means they’ve never tried one of the classic Southern staples. “We don’t have cornmeal here,” several people told me. Imagine my surprise, when visiting states outside the South, that no one ate cornbread. Should it be sweet or savory? Thin or thick? Do you want add-ins, making adjustments to a classic recipe, like broccoli cornbread, Mexican cornbread, or Sour Cream Cornbread? We’re updating some of our favorite recipes for 2021 with detailed instructions, all new cooking tips, and additional how-to tips to make preparing the recipes easier!
